ERA IGT Umbria Sangiovese, our interpretation of the most widespread grape variety in the Lake Trasimeno area, is produced for the first time with the 2007 vintage.
The name was suggested by Mount Era, whose harmonious, rounded shape dominates the vineyards and the estate.
In Greek mythology, Hera, bride of Zeus and queen of Olympus, is the goddess of marriage and fertility.
The vineyards from which it comes are all planted at a high density, with approximately 5,500 plants per hectare and yields not exceeding 1.5 kg per plant.
Maceration lasts fifteen days in contact with the skins.
Era then spends a period of five months maturing in tonneaux where it undergoes malolactic fermentation before resting a further six months in the bottle.
Ruby red colour tending towards garnet, the nose has notes of dried leaves and humus, followed by red berry fruit and nutmeg.
On the palate there is a pleasant savouriness, firm tannins and a long finish.
Recommended with red meat and cheese.
